Time Keeps On Ticking…But Not My Watch

Image
Hello Everyone! Yep, my second watch bit the dust this week. I'll get a replacement and see how long the next one lasts. Friday night volleyball was great. I was able to share a favorite scripture and spiritual message with everyone who attended. We had a great lunch with some local members this week. It was good to catch up and talk about missionary work. In my last area, Three Forks Ward, there is a member named, Sister Burks. One night she asked if I would give her a blessing because her eyesight was failing and she was losing her ability to see. As I placed my hands on her head I can't remember everything that was said but she reminded me that in the blessing I told her her vision would come back. I was notified this week that her vision is indeed coming back and she wanted me to know. Miracles do happen!  Here's another story for my Spring Creek friends. We were at a ward member's home this week for dinner when we met a young single adult at their home (we are assu...

Looking Forward To New Adventures

Hello Everyone,  Happy belated EASTER! I hope all of you had a great weekend celebrating with family. Transfers happened and I am no longer in the boons! I am now serving in the Longview Lake Ward in Lee's Summit, MO. My new companion is Elder Chavez who is from California. He has been out 11 months and is a Spanish Language missionary. I am hoping to pick up a little Spanish this transfer and I am looking forward to serving with Elder Chavez.  Saying goodbye to the great  people of Three Forks Ward was difficult. When you spend 18 weeks and three transfers with such amazing people it's hard to say goodbye. I will always remember my time there! My new area is going to be similar to my first area in Kansas where we are not allowed to tract door to door. We will follow up with "grey dots" in the area and search for new people to teach.  Here is a story for my Spring Creek, NV friends. If you know the Morrill family then you'll get a kick out of this story. I walked ...

“Fear Not What Man Can Do”

Hello Everyone,  We had Stake Conference this weekend and since the Stake Center is out of our boundaries we watched it via Zoom at several ward members' homes. We had an amazing breakfast feast (pictures below) and enjoyed listening to the messages. We had the best time serving others this week and moved two ward families into new homes. The Jones family needed help again this week and we moved all of the big, heavy items including a large piano and it was incredibly difficult and I am still sore from the exertion. We also helped the Zundl family move and did much of the same heavy lifting. I actually really enjoy serving others and moving and helping families brings me joy. I will spend my last few days in the Three Forks Ward as I will be transferred on Thursday. Of course I don't know where I will go or who my new companion will be. Always a fun mystery and I am excited about new opportunities and ward to serve in. Hopefully we will get a chance to stop by a few members...

The One Where He Came Out With A Gun In His Hand!

Hey Everyone, This has been an amazing week and one with a little too much excitement one afternoon. I guess I'll start there...This past week Elder Barney and I were tracting in Darlington and we approached this home and knocked on the door. Nothing happens but we are patient and we stand waiting. After about 3 minutes we decide to move on to the next house and we are on our way there when the door opens to the house we just knocked on. A man is standing there so we run back to the door, filled with the Spirit and ready to share an inspiring message about Jesus Christ, when all of a sudden I see a Beretta handgun in the man's hand. Our steps slow and we hear his thumb draw back the hammer. We freeze. The man asks us "What are you doing?" We tell him we are knocking on doors sharing messages about Jesus Christ. He says, "Don't do that". And then his finger goes to the trigger. We tell him we won't and that we will leave. We bid him a good day and ran...
