Looking Forward To New Adventures
Hello Everyone,
Happy belated EASTER! I hope all of you had a great weekend celebrating with family.
Transfers happened and I am no longer in the boons! I am now serving in the Longview Lake Ward in Lee's Summit, MO. My new companion is Elder Chavez who is from California. He has been out 11 months and is a Spanish Language missionary. I am hoping to pick up a little Spanish this transfer and I am looking forward to serving with Elder Chavez.
Saying goodbye to the great people of Three Forks Ward was difficult. When you spend 18 weeks and three transfers with such amazing people it's hard to say goodbye. I will always remember my time there!
My new area is going to be similar to my first area in Kansas where we are not allowed to tract door to door. We will follow up with "grey dots" in the area and search for new people to teach.
Here is a story for my Spring Creek, NV friends. If you know the Morrill family then you'll get a kick out of this story. I walked into Church yesterday and after Sacrament the bishop came over and introduced himself and he looked so familiar to me, but asked me where I'm from. I told him Northeastern Nevada. He looks interested and says, "where?" and I tell him Spring Creek and he then tells me he is Bishop Morrill, Russ Morill's brother who lives in Spring Creek NV. I couldn't believe it! What a small world. I told him Heather and I were always seated next to each other because of the spelling of our last names. Later, that night he invited my companion and I over for dessert and we talked more about the Spring Creek Morrills and I kept telling the bishops kids how much they looked like their Spring Creek cousins.
My friends, the Andrade Hernandez family, who I met after serving in Overland Park fed us a feast for Easter Sunday. We were so grateful for all of the food they shared with us. We felt very blessed.
Every Friday in our district we have a night of volleyball with investigators, members and missionaries. Attached are pictures from that night.
Most of the pictures today are from transfer day and being with the other missionaries. These great people are my friends and I appreciate their examples.
I want to testify that Jesus Christ lives. I know with all of my heart that He died for each of us. "He is not here; for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay."
Have a great week!
Elder Mortensen

I left my nerf guns, ammo and a note for the next missionary at Three Forks who will need a nerf gun for Pday fun. I left him a note reminding him that it's up to him to keep up the great nerf war work of the Three Forks Missionaries.
