Can I Get A Ride To Church? Sorry, I Changed My Mind. Can I Get A Ride To Church?

Hello Everyone,  Our investigator, Robert, called me Sunday morning and asked for a ride to Church. I called and found a member to take him. One hour later Robert called to tell us he changed his mind and wasn't going to go to Church. I called and cancelled his ride to Church. 15 minutes before Church Robert called me again and said he did now want to attend Church and needed a ride. Luckily, the member I called is super cool and flexible and said no problem he'd pick up Robert and take him to Church. Robert did indeed make it to Church and it was a great experience for him. We will follow up with him this week. We also had a new investigator, Russell, attend Church yesterday. Russell is in his late 50's early 60's and he thinks that if you believe in Christ you will go to heaven. He also believes there isn't only one church you can attend and that going to several churches at the same time is the best idea. He has read many books of scriptures and he is willing to ...

Are You Willing To Read And Pray About The Book Of Mormon?

Hello Everyone, The week was eventful and full of hard work. We had to drop several off our teaching list and we found a new investigator. Her name is Linda and she is a lawyer who grew up Catholic and converted to Christian Science 30 years ago. Linda was a referral and we actually had a great conversation with her. She has studied a lot of Christian religions and during our lesson I asked her if she was willing to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. She sincerely said she would so I gave her a copy. We have a return appointment on Saturday to teach her again.  This week we had President interviews and I don't have many left with President Ames as his mission ends on June 30th.  We had District Leader exchanges and I stayed in my area and Elder Lund and I spent 24 hours working every angle of the area we could think of.  This week we worked at Hillcrest, a donation facility like Goodwill or the DI. We take the donations from the vehicles to the warehouse for sorti...

He Is Risen

Hello Everyone, I hope each of you enjoyed a beautiful Easter Sunday and took time to reflect on our Savior's birth, ministry, death and Resurrection. I know that Christ lives and that He shed drops of blood for me.  Elder Gillman and I had a very busy and successful week. We found 4 new investigators and visited many people. We are now teaching Nesha and Taleah who actually walked up to me in a parking lot and said, "I see you guys around and wanted to ask who you are and what you do?" I explained that we are missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and are representatives of Jesus Christ sharing His message. We were able to teach them and have a return appointment tomorrow.  We met Cheyenne and gave her a Book of Mormon. She said "I'll give it a try." We have a lesson scheduled with her next week.  Maricio was a yellow dot in our area book and we finally made contact with him. Once I introduced who we were he told us that it's h...

“Just Keep Going—With Faith”

Hey Everyone, Elder Carl B. Cook of the Presidency of the Seventy spoke during the Saturday morning session of General Conference. He taught that God can help individuals overcome discouragement and keep going--with faith. A few of the things he talked about were, "When faced with disappointment, painful experiences, personal inadequacies or other challenges, do not let discouragement overwhelm us."  "God will help individuals overcome discouragement and other obstacles if they look to Him, follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost, and just keep going--with faith." "When individuals feel weak or incapable, the Lord can strengthen their faith and increase their capacities." I felt uplifted as I listened to all of the conference talks. I am grateful for the enlightenment and encouragement that I felt as a missionary to just keep doing the best I can in the situations I am put in.  This week we had Zone Conference and were reminded by President Ames that our p...
