He Is Risen
Hello Everyone,
I hope each of you enjoyed a beautiful Easter Sunday and took time to reflect on our Savior's birth, ministry, death and Resurrection. I know that Christ lives and that He shed drops of blood for me.
Elder Gillman and I had a very busy and successful week. We found 4 new investigators and visited many people. We are now teaching Nesha and Taleah who actually walked up to me in a parking lot and said, "I see you guys around and wanted to ask who you are and what you do?" I explained that we are missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and are representatives of Jesus Christ sharing His message. We were able to teach them and have a return appointment tomorrow.
We met Cheyenne and gave her a Book of Mormon. She said "I'll give it a try." We have a lesson scheduled with her next week.
Maricio was a yellow dot in our area book and we finally made contact with him. Once I introduced who we were he told us that it's his parents that are actually interested and so we got their names and address and forwarded the information on to the elders in that area. As we continued to talk and share a message about Jesus Christ, Maricio told me that he is also interested in learning more so we've scheduled an appointment with him.
I called a lot of less active members and we visited several this week. On one visit we stopped at Joseph's home who is a less active member. He was baptized in the 80's and never went back to church after his baptism. We had a great conversation with him and he asked us "How to get a spiritual relationship with God." We told him through diligent, heartfelt prayers, reading the Book of Mormon and attending Church. He said didn't have a Book of Mormon so we gave him a copy and we have a return appointment with him.
A lot of my mission I have focused on the less active and reaching out to them and sharing a gospel message and inviting them back to Church. These encounters have been as important as finding new investigators.
Our Easter Sacrament meeting was spiritually filled with great talks and musical numbers. We had Easter dinner at the Morgan's home and they fed us steak which was delicious.
President Nelson said: "I plead with you to come unto Him so that He can heal you! He will heal you from sin as you repent. He will heal you from sadness and fear. He will heal you from the wounds of this world. Whatever questions or problems you have, the answer is always found in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Learn more about His Atonement, His love, His mercy, His doctrine, and His restored gospel of healing and progression. Turn to Him! Follow Him!
John chapter 16 verse 33 says: "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
I testify that Jesus Christ overcame the world, conquered death, and was Resurrected. He Is Risen.
Elder Mortensen
