The Work Moves Forward

Hey Everyone, Elder Midgley and I just completed our first full week in our new area in the Woodland Ward where we continue to find, teach, and share messages with people we come in contact with. We are being fed by ward members and we have started our MEMBER MISSION PLANS with each family as we visit them in their homes.  This week a family in the area needed help loading moving boxes onto a truck and we were happy to help. This family was amazing, kind and funny, and because they are members of another faith it made our service more rewarding.  We are focusing our teaching efforts with FRANK, AUGUST, JOHN, SARAH, and MARIA. I am also conversing with people on FB and trying to teach them. I'm including a picture of an Assassin Bug and a video of Elder Midgley removing an Assassin Bug from our apartment deck with a nerf gun. Assassin Bugs have venom and their bite is painful, and the area around the bite can get red and swollen. There are a lot of interesting bugs here in the ...

Welcome To Woodland Park Ward Elder

Hey Everyone, After being told I was staying in Longview Lake another transfer, I was called about 20 hours before transfers and told to pack my bags that I was indeed being transferred. I am very disappointed to leave Longview Lake and all of the people we were teaching there. We had  4 upcoming baptisms in September and I'm not going to say it doesn't hurt not to be staying.  I was moved to the Woodland Ward in the Lenexa Stake. My new companion is Elder Midgley from California and he has the same fire I have on finding and teaching so we will get this area opened up. Woodland Ward is a recently created ward because of boundary changes. One set of Elder's were put in a few transfers back, but no one has been in the ward for a transfer.  When we walked into the apartment the fridge was bare and I had already bought a lot of food for my last area because I wasn't on the list to transfer so that hurt when we saw there wasn't any food to eat. We had to make an emergen...

My Soul Delights In Proverbs

Hey Everyone, Transfer news...I'm staying here in Lee's Summit and so is Elder Davis. This is not a coincidence. This is a tender mercy. President Ames has ALWAYS moved me after three transfers so I figured the pattern would continue. I feel very blessed to continue finding and teaching in an area that I really love. I'm grateful for the investigators that we are teaching and who have commited to baptism.  This week was filled with mini miracles. I absolutely believe that true, strict obedience has brought these miracles to our area. When we are given an online referral for a prayer, we work very hard to make sure we are at that address the same day they ask for a prayer with us. This past week we received a prayer referral and Elder Davis and I went to the address. We knocked on the door and heard the dog bark. No one came to the door. We waited about 5 minutes and the dog just barked and no one came. Elder Davis asked if we could go and I couldn't shake the feeling I ...

Please Have Clothes On When You Open Your Front Door

Hey Everyone, Happy Monday and the start of a new week of blessings and work. This past week we saw a lot of great mini miracles and it was very productive.  Elder Davis and I are sharing a message with ward members called FIRE FAMILY MISSION PLANS. We started with the Bishop and his family and are working around the ward. This week we were on our way to the Blake Family to share the MISSION plan when we saw a lady walking down the sidewalk and felt impressed to stop and talk with her. By the time I was able to safely find a place to pull over we got out of the car and she was not on the sidewalk anymore. We ran to see if there was another route she could have gone and saw a path so we started running down it and the lady was a little distance from us. We slowed down to a fast walk and when we were right behind her I took a deep breath to say hello and she turned around and screamed. She was startled and asked us if we had guns and we told her no. She immediately was relieved and s...

Quarantined And Stolen Carrots

Hey Everyone, It's been a few weeks since I have been able to write an email. Two weeks ago our Pday was switched to a Tuesday so we could attend the temple as a Zone and once we were back and shopped for groceries it was time to get to appointments.  Last Monday, on Pioneer Day, I wasn't able to get a chance to send something out so this email could be a little long catching up with my mission work. While in the temple I spent some time in the Celestial room in prayer and felt very close to my Heavenly Father. I'm grateful for personal revelation and a spiritual connection with God. I'm grateful for the clear message that I received and felt so loved by Heavenly Father. Prayers were answered and confirmation was given and assurance was felt. Please attend the temple as often as you can and I promise you will be spiritually fed. Heavenly Father wants us to be near Him and to always talk to Him. He will always be there for us if we let Him in.  As you remember, my compan...
