Welcome To Woodland Park Ward Elder
Hey Everyone,
After being told I was staying in Longview Lake another transfer, I was called about 20 hours before transfers and told to pack my bags that I was indeed being transferred. I am very disappointed to leave Longview Lake and all of the people we were teaching there. We had 4 upcoming baptisms in September and I'm not going to say it doesn't hurt not to be staying.
I was moved to the Woodland Ward in the Lenexa Stake. My new companion is Elder Midgley from California and he has the same fire I have on finding and teaching so we will get this area opened up. Woodland Ward is a recently created ward because of boundary changes. One set of Elder's were put in a few transfers back, but no one has been in the ward for a transfer.
When we walked into the apartment the fridge was bare and I had already bought a lot of food for my last area because I wasn't on the list to transfer so that hurt when we saw there wasn't any food to eat. We had to make an emergency trip to the store to buy a few days worth of food until we could actually shop properly today.
We have been working extremely hard the past 4 days since we landed here. Being basically new to ward and not having anything to go by we are grey dot calling and making member contacts. Our Ward Mission Leader is a great man and we are working with him to get some contacts also.
We have had a few ward member dinners and we are starting to share a ward mission plan with each family we meet.
We are teaching FRANK and MARIA and hope they continue to progress.
Elder Mortensen
