It’s A…TRIO
Hey Everyone,
Another week in Higginsville has come and gone. We woke up to a surprise call Tuesday morning telling us that we would have another elder in our companionship in a few hours. An emergency transfer was needed (I only know a little about what happened between him and his old companion) and this elder would be joining us here in Higginsville. We've welcomed Elder Paul and shown him respect and kindness and he is doing well so far this past week. Elder Paul is from Gooding, Idaho, and this is his 4th transfer out on the mission. I'm grateful President Ames has given me charge of these two young elders and I hope they will always feel comfortable and safe in our trio.
This week I felt inspired to change our lunch start time from noon to 1 pm. I also made the decision to go outside and walk the streets where people are out and about during the noon time lunch hour. That decision allowed us to actually see people outside and meet them, place Books of Mormon with them and chat with them. One gentleman, named Grant, was walking his baby in a stroller and we met up with him and he was interested in listening to what we had to say. He asked that we walk with him, so for the next 45 minutes we walked and talked and taught the Restoration lesson to him. We placed a Book of Mormon with him and he gave us his cell number to call and set up a follow up appointment. We also talk with Donna and her family who are committed to reading the Book of Mormon.
A couple of changes to our mission include a new mission nurse and car coordinator, Brother and Sister Helvig, who are senior missionaries. Brother Helvig is a lot more relaxed about TIWI (car monitor) and he is pretty chill when you have to call him if you have an infraction (going over the speed limit by 1 mile an hour). And, our mission president is allowing any song that has been played in a Disney movie can now be listened to on the mission. That is actually great news because there are lots of songs in lots of Disney movies that make all of us happy. My parents have downloaded and sent several Disney albums and songs to us. In the video below see if you can guess the Disney movie the song playing is from--it's a good one. Another change in our mission is we will no longer be allowed to have Zone P-Day's. I guess gathering as a Zone creates too large of a missionary presence and we've been asked not to do that. So, today is our last Zone Pday.
Our Concordia Branch sustained a new Branch President yesterday. Our new Branch President is President Curtis. He is a great man and we've already had dinner with him and his family. This is the first time I've served in an area where a Bishop/Branch President changed. The branch is excited for the change.
In Doctrine and Covenants 84:46 the Lord said, "The Spirit giveth light to every man that cometh into the world; and the Spirit enlighteneth every man through the world, that hearkeneth to the voice of the Spirit." Our Heavenly Father loves all of His children and He made sure we would always have a way to receive guidance and inspiration from the Lord. We are taught that spiritual influence begins with the Light of Christ. This influence allows us to know good from evil and to recognize the Spirit and follow the impressions we receive throughout the day. I know the companionship of the Holy Ghost is a blessing and constant guide.
