This Week Wasn’t FIREWORKS, But We Had A Blast!!!
Hey Everyone,
Happy 4th of July! I hope each of you enjoyed the day and spent time with family. Our Zone had a water fight for P-day and we got creative in finding ways to soak each other. We also played the slapping tortilla game where you fill your mouth with water and slap the person's cheek with a tortilla to make them spit the water out. We laughed and spit so much water on each other. LOL.
Our ward called a new Ward Mission Leader and Brother Freudland is now who will be working with on the ward level. We are super excited to work with him because he is really good at what he does and keeps up going.
Transfers are this week and Elder Stevens is dying and going home. His two year mission is complete and he's ready to continue his life back home in Idaho. I appreciate his service and example to me these past 6 months and wish him the best. I am staying in the Longview Lake Ward in Lee's Summit and am happy with the news.
PAT came to church today and she continues to try and heal. She is still set for an August baptism unless she can walk sooner than that. ELI and his family are coming back to church and we continue to work with them. SABRINE is young woman's age and will get additional support from that organization as she continues to grow her knowledge and testimony. BRANDON is a new fin we are teaching. MALLORIE is also a new find we've started teaching. TINA is moving forward with the lessons but didn't make it to church yesterday. We also found a lot of grey dots in the area book and have follow up phone calls we need to make to schedule lessons with them. We made some strides on FB finds and will be teaching a few new people because of those efforts.
This week I had an exchange with Elder Orton and we ate out for dinner. I tried something new...catfish...and I have to admit it was quite delicious.
And...I have a few sprouts on the carrots I planted a while back. I'll report back if I have any carrots grow this season.
We had a great volleyball turnout this week and SABRINE attended and enjoyed playing with the other missionaries and investigators.
Saturday was my grandma's funeral. My mission president gave me permission to watch the funeral live on Facebook. I'm so grateful I was able to see and listen to my dad, uncle and aunts share memories of their mom. My dad dedicated the grave and I was able to watch that also. As hard as it is to lose a grandparent as I am out serving it was helpful to be able to virtually be in attendance. Till we meet again grandma!
I've loved reading from the Old Testament and this week I enjoyed 2nd Kings chapter 6 verses 8-17. Please look up those verses and see how you feel after reading those lines. My takeaway is no matter how alone or out numbered you may feel, if you could look up on "your mountain" and see the horses and chariots and people crammed on "your mountain" supporting and cheering you on how blessed our lives would be to see the love and energy our people have for each of us!
