Another HARD Work Week!

Hey Everyone,

It's nice to take a minute and share some of the things I'm experiencing as I serve my mission. We had another hard work week and I'm grateful for the opportunity to share the message of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ with those we come into contact with. I love sharing messages about Jesus Christ and his life and example. I love the scriptures and the stories and truths that help me to become better.

#PRAYFOREIGHT:

BOOMATAY'S: Unfortunately, the three baptisms we had scheduled yesterday didn't happen. One of the children has a situation that is confidential and needs to wait a little longer prior to being baptized. The rest of the kids want to wait and be baptized together.  The new baptism date is the first Sunday in December. We will continue to teach and help them all we can to enter the waters of baptism.

PAUL: His baptism date is most likely cancelled due to some very serious personal situations he is facing. We will continue to reach out and help as much as we can.

We had Zone Conference this week and the messages from President and Sister Ames were amazing and uplifting. Sister Ames is related to Heber J. Grant and shared a pioneer story with us about a historical site in Nebraska where a railroad was being built and was going to run right into a pioneer grave. They removed the bones and placed them in another grave and the spot became a historical place. We must always remember how important our ancestors are in our lives. We are serving missions and sharing the good message of the gospel of Jesus Christ because of those who have gone before us.

Speaking of relatives....I went on an exchange with the District Leader, Elder Lee, and we served in his ward, Indian Creek. We went to visit a member and when I introduced myself as "Elder  Mortensen" she said "WHO?" and I said again, "Elder Mortensen!" And she said, "I bet we are related!" And, sure enough, we are related! Through my dad's line back to Peder Mortensen. She told me the same story that my dad and Grandpa Mortensen have shared over my lifetime. Her name is Arlette Ethel McRae McIff and we are 4th cousins once removed. I've shared this full experience with my parents today and it truly is amazing the connection I made with a distant cousin.

This week we served with the Hickory Hills elders and moved a family out of an apartment in their ward. It's always fun to move heavy furniture! Haha!

One day this week we came back to our apartment to find it ransacked! We were quite impressed with the efforts of the Hickory Hills elders in keeping us on our toes! We put everything back and today we did a deep cleaning.

I'm grateful for the inspiration and impressions that I've had this week. I had a very personal spiritual experience as we listened to the Primary children sing during the ward primary program yesterday. I'm grateful for the spirit and how it speaks to us and shares messages with us. I'm grateful to be given such experiences.

Have a great week everyone!
