Last Week Before Transfers, Baby!!!

Image
Hey Everyone,  The mission is great! The gospel of Jesus Christ is true! The Book of Mormon is true! Praying to our Heavenly Father brings peace, guidance, comfort and truth! This is the last week before transfers. I found out that I am staying in Overland Park 1st ward and my trainer/companion, Elder Montoya, is being transferred. Right now I don't know who my new companion is and we don't know where Elder Montoya will be serving. I am very grateful for a great trainer, companion and friend in Elder Montoya. We've worked so hard in our area and we've made good progress here. I am grateful for all I've learned from him.  This past week we had another apartment inspection (they are once a transfer) and we cleaned everything up and got it sparkling! We passed again!  #PRAY FOR EIGHT Update: BOOMATAY'S: We continue to teach the family and share messages with them. Three of the children are still on book to be baptized November 7th. We will take the Sacrament into t...

SWEET IS THE WORK!

Hello Everyone, This week I posted a few times on Facebook sharing messages about prayer and scriptures. I encourage you to watch and let me know if my companion and I can pray for you! This week we enjoyed a great District Meeting and District Council. I was also able to go on exchanges with the District Leader, Elder Gubler, and it was amazing! I had fun visiting a family in our ward boundaries who are watching a friend's puppy while they are away. The dog's name is BUDDY and he and I got along great. I love visiting homes with dogs. Lots of toss and catching the ball was happening, and then he would come and lay at my feet. Made me miss my own dog at home.  We also spent several hours in service this week and we had the opportunity to help a family move. This week we also were told by our Mission President that we will be able to attend the Temple once a transfer (so every 6 weeks). We are pretty excited about this news and look forward to attending.  President and Sister N...

Week Of Challenges

Image
Hey Everyone, Well...this was a tough week. It's been one of those you hear about as you prepare to serve and now it has happened. It was a long, hard, trying week. We've worked very hard this week. We've tried and followed through with every thought and prompting we've had, but still didn't have a lot of success. Tough times. Every time I pray I ask that we find the smallest spec of wheat amongst the chaff.  #PRAYFOREIGHTUPDATE: JENNIFER: Her grandfather passed away. We shared scriptures with her filled with comfort and peace. The next day she text both my companion and myself and asked that we no longer come around. She said she was done learning about the gospel. It was a huge shock. We are unsure of what happened and where her daughter ALEXUS stands. We are being respectful during this time and will move on.  CARROLL: We are on pause with her as she continues to work out some personal issues that need to be taken care of before we move forward.  BOOMATAYS: The m...

Service And General Conference Weekend

Image
Hello Everyone, Can we even believe it is already OCTOBER? Today we had Zone P-day and we played ultimate frisbee and volleyball. We had a great time hanging out with the Zone.  General Conference was amazing and uplifting. We were able to watch several sessions with families in our ward and one session with our district. One of my favorite talks was President Nelson's talk about building your own spiritual foundation. It was very strong and very powerful. I really appreciated and enjoyed that message. And, Brother Wilcox's talk about Worthiness is Not Flawlessness. Again, amazing and inspiring.  This week in my personal study of the Book of Mormon I read in Alma chapter 14. There are important lessons to learn from this chapter. (Skipping to verse 14, you can read the entire chapter). We read that once the burning was finished the chief judge asked Alma and Amulek "After what ye have seen, will ye preach again unto this people, that they shall be cast into a lake of fire ...
