Miracles Can Happen When You Follow The Spirit

Image
Hey Everyone, Today was a great P-day and our district got together to play ultimate frisbee and it went well. I enjoy the opportunity I have to get to know the Elders and Sisters in my district and I feel we are getting closer and they truly feel like they are my brothers and sisters. It's awesome to be part of this group of friends who are great examples as we share our mission experiences together.  We had Mid Trainers (Mid Trainers are a meeting where Trainers attend one meeting and Trainees attend a separate meeting) this week and my takeaway was "show up to grow". When I arrived on my mission I was here and present and "showed" up. It is my time to spiritually "grow" as I serve.  I am continuing to study French...it's been a great experience so far.  Elder Montonya and I were able to get some service hours this week and helped a ward member move mattresses.  I'm grateful for the opportunity to have shared my testimony at Church yesterday....

Transfers And Thai Food

Hey Everyone, Our mission had transfers this week. I am staying in Overland Park 1st ward with Elder Montoya as my trainer. But, our best bruh's Elder Mortensen and Elder Murdock are both leaving the Hickory Hills ward. Elder Mortensen left for his original mission in Leeds, England and Elder Murdock was transferred out of the area. I was able to give the departing prayer prior to them leaving and it was a difficult thing to see them go but I have great comfort in knowing that I will see them again.  With the season turning to fall I have enjoyed seeing the trees gain more color as the leaves begin to turn. I'm excited to see the trees and plants change and become beautiful in the coming weeks and months. The temperature has finally come down which makes outside more bearable.   We had dinner at the Frackrell's, a member's home here in our ward. They have a VERY FAT CAT named FAT LOUIE. This cat is unique because he likes to be around people. He wants his ears scratched...

A Fruitful Week!

Hello Everyone, This week has been so fruitful! It's amazing what the Spirit can do when everyone strives to live closely to it. Our prayers have been answered! Our ward member's prayers have been answered, and we are working hard toward reaching our goal of 8 baptisms in 2021! #PRAYFOREIGHT Update:  This week we met a lot of people and our teaching pool went from small to large. We did have a couple of missionary miracles occur as we found two elect people to teach this week, Carroll and Luis.  Elder Montoya and I were walking in the park and we met Luis. We stopped and started to talk to him. Luis starts to tell us that he was just sitting in the park thanking Jesus for getting him out of his alcohol addiction and he was looking for another sign that Jesus Christ's hand was in his life when we walked up. We acknowledged that he was sincerely looking for guidance and we shared a message with him and taught him about the Restoration and the Book of Mormon. He asked if he co...

Service Project, Old Mission Stories, And New Investigators

Hello Everyone! I don't have a lot of time today because we are having a District P-Day and are super busy trying to get everything done in such a short amount of time.  So, this week was a little crazy. My companion and I decided to do a service project at a local furniture/home supply store. One of the assignments we were given was to separate filled and empty 5 gallon buckets that were sealed with lids. The owner asked us to do this by picking up the bucket and shaking it around. If content was in it, we placed it in one area, if it was empty we tossed it. My companion picked up one bucket and the lid flew off (it was unattached) and grout spilled out all over the ground. The owner wasn't phased by this and started to help clean up the mess. Let's just say during the clean up grout was smeared all over the concrete floor of the warehouse. But, those buckets have been sorted. LOL! We had dinner one night with a ward member named Brother Larson. Throughout dinner we were t...
