The Power Of Jesus Christ In Our Lives

Image
Hello Everyone, I had another busy and great week here in the MIM. I hope each of you have had an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend and have spent time with your families.  Brother and Sister Hastings from the ward visited with Kara's parents this week. The meeting actually ended up going very well. Kara's dad was very standoffish at the beginning and it was a little touch and go there, but he finally opened up his heart a little and the conversation went really well after that. They are happy about the introduction and there's a possibility of the Hasting's son, Logan, proposing to Kara soon so it was good for the families to meet. Kara is still very much interested in learning about the gospel of Jesus Christ and we will continue to teach her.  Jordyn is really moving forward in her desire to be baptized. Earlier in the week I told her I was singing a musical number in sacrament meeting and would she attend. She responded YES and she came with her boyfriend who is a memb...

"Know The Truth And Stand For It"

Hello Everyone, Another week of missionary work has come and gone. We had some great encounters this week and I'm grateful for the time I have remaining as a full time missionary.  I found a new investigator while making cold calls. Blake is very interested in learning more about the gospel of Jesus Christ but he lives outside of our area and we will have to transfer him to sisters serving in his area.  This week we spent many hours in service as we cleaned all of the trash and weeds from a multisports complex. It took us over 3 hours but the complex looks a lot better and we hope the community enjoys the cleanliness. We also were called by a ward member who is putting a hot tub behind their home. They called us to remove rock and a weed barrier and then to dig a round hole where the hot tub will be placed. We worked for almost an hour moving rock, shovel by shovel full and then we removed the weed barrier and the ward member came outside to inspect our work. He took a tape me...

Happy Mother's Day

Hello Everyone, Happy Mother's Day to all of the women who read my emails. I hope you had a great Mother's Day yesterday. I am grateful for my mother Stacey and all that she has taught me and the support and love she shows me.  This week Jordyn was able to attend a baptism of a recent convert and she reported back to us that she felt the spirit during the baptism and knew the person was doing the right thing. We continue to teach Jordyn and Kara and they both would already be on date for their own baptisms if they had their parents approval. We are still praying to know how to best handle this situation and I ask for your continued prayers for both of these women.   We found and started teaching a man named Josey. I placed a Book of Mormon with him and we taught him the Restoration lesson. We will continue to teach him and have a return appointment this week. Josey has a pretty sweet Bronco sitting in his driveway.  We also placed a Book of Mormon with a guy named Tr...

LEAVE IT ALL ON THE MISSION

Image
Hey Everyone, It has been a great week of wonderful experiences and Heavenly Father never stops loving and helping us missionaries and our Savior Jesus Christ never stops providing the things we stand in need of.  Jordyn is an investigator that has been to church 3 times. She is a good friend of a young woman in the ward, Sydney Bond. When Jordyn read the bible and specifically Galations 5 and learned about the "fruits of the Spirit" she looked at all of her friends and realized that only Sydney had those qualities. Jordyn and her family are strict Baptists and her parents are not thrilled with her decision to learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ from the missionaries. Jordyn is 18 and will be graduating high school in a few weeks. We've taught several lessons to her and she is excited about the gospel and wants to learn more. Jordyn studies the scriptures, has questions ready to ask us and she is golden. She is one of the most prepared and ready investigators I've ...

Hodge Park Ward

Image
Hello Everyone, Thursday were transfers and I am now serving in the Liberty Zone, Hodge Park Ward in Missouri. My new companion is Elder Thompson from Kimberly, Idaho. For my Spring Creek, NV friends, Elder Thompson is related to the Thompson family in the 1st ward. This is his last transfer before he goes home.  For the first few days in my new area we actually served two wards, including the Shoal Creek ward. It was while tracking in the Shoal Creek ward that we met Aaron. He immediately let us in his home and asked us to teach him as much as possible at that first meeting. We taught him about the Book of Mormon and how it can bless families. He wanted to hear it all. Aaron is the most elect investigator I have ever found and taught at the first lesson. I gave him a Book of Mormon and testified of the truthfulness of the pages written. Unfortunately, because Aaron lives in the Shoal Creek ward boundaries we passed him off to the Shoal Creek Elders.   Saying goodbye to t...
