TRAIN THE TRAINER

Image
Hey Everyone, Transfer news came this weekend and I am being transferred to a new area to follow up train a new elder. I don't know where I'll be going or the name of the greenie but I look forward to helping this young elder adjust to mission life and to train him this transfer. I'll pick him up on Thursday morning and we'll be off and running in our new area.  Elder Midgley and I have had a great companionship this transfer. He is staying in Woodland Ward and is also training. We really think alike and enjoy talking to everyone we come in contact with. I am blessed to have the best companions as I've served.  Bed Bug Update: The Mission Housing Team gave us zipper mattress covers that we put on our mattresses. The bug infestation has gone down and I've only seen one bed bug in another room on a floor board, and today Elder Midgley found a bed bug on the pants he was wearing. Tomorrow our apartment will be fumigated and we will have to be gone all day. There is...

When The Bed Bugs Bite

Image
Hey Everyone, You know that old saying "Don't let the bed bugs bite"? Well...I've heard that saying from my parents all my life and I've never experienced what that actually means until NOW. Yup, you got that right...we've got BED BUGS...holy moly. And, we've been bitten more than once and these bugs are nasty.  Remember how this apartment sat vacant for a while and we are the first Elder's back in here. Well, I guess the bed bugs had found a great place to nest uninterrupted, until we showed up. We are dealing with trying to get rid of them. We will see what the missionaries over housing and maintenance tell us and if they will just bring us new mattresses. But for now, we have found and killed all of the bed bugs we can see. We have thoroughly cleaned and sanitized everything and also bought a bed bug killer when we shopped this morning so hopefully we can keep them away until the problem resolves or new mattresses arrive.  Elder Midgley and I are mo...

A ROYAL WEEK

Image
Hey Everyone, This past week our entire mission attended a Kansas City Royals baseball game. It was quite the experience and we had a great time. $1.00 hot dogs, royal blue ties for the Elders, and a party bus to take us there and back. I'm sure our elderly bus driver loved listening to "Peace in Christ" over and over as we traveled to the ball field. Fun times.  Elder Midgley and I are keeping the ball rolling here in the Woodland Ward. We are using a new technique to teach the ward members how to find on Facebook. Seems like a good plan and we need all the referrals we can get.  We found three new investigators. A mom and her two adult daughters, who seem elect and are asking all of the right questions. LYDIA, FAITH, and FRANCIS all have a copy of the Book of Mormon and a great lesson behind them. FRANK was too busy for us this week, and we found EUGENE but he is 17 and we need parental permission before we teach him further.  AUGUST ghosted us this week. We will give h...

Labor In The Vineyard

Image
Happy Labor Day Everyone! This week we taught AUGUST and it was great to get to know him and hear about his life and learn what his interests are. We taught him the Plan of Salvation and Restoration lessons. He received the messages and loved what was taught. One big hurdle we have with him is that his dad is very strict that August spends Sunday mornings with him at his church. We are trying to figure out how we can get him to a meeting. Both churches start at the same time.  We also met FRANK and he is quite an amazing man. He's super big into sports and he watches all sports everyday on TV. He is currently on date for baptism but won't make the selected date and we will see how it goes and make a new baptism date for him.  We finally got mission funds put on our church debit cards so I was able to buy groceries this week. That's always a good thing since no groceries were bought last week.  The Woodland Ward is a fairly wealthy ward and it has been difficult for us to ...
