“Your Brain Goes To 30%, So You Just Shut It Off???”

Hey Everyone, LIfe is good and the mission is great! Another busy and hard working week came and went.  We had to drop several investigators but we are continuing to teach PAT who is still in rehab from being hit by a car and she is in a lot of pain. It is taking her a long time to recover and she just isn't bouncing back as quickly as she would like. She has asked that her baptism be moved to her birthday in August! So...no one knows who will be here to baptize her? I could still be around or be transferred. We are still teaching ELI and he is moving forward. SABRINE attended our Friday night volleyball night which was great and she continues to learn more as we teach her. TINA is super elect and she is on date for July 30th to be baptized. She needs time for us to continue to teach her and for her testimony to develop.  We spent time this week serving at a local food bank where those in need come and "shop" the store shelves. We "shop" along with the person/fa...

As Missionaries We Ask: ARE YOU WILLING?

Hey Everyone, First of all, Happy Belated Father's Day to the father's who read this. I hope you had a great day with your families. I had the opportunity to talk with my dad who is one of the greatest father's I know. I am grateful for the wise counsel both he and my mom give me, especially as I serve my mission.  Unfortunately, I received the sad news from my parents that on Wednesday my grandma Mortensen passed away. I'm grateful for the legacy she has left behind and that opportunity we have to cherish the memories we've made with her. This week has been difficult and hard to be so far away.  This past week we had exchanges and it's always great to stir things up in the middle of the week. My companion, Elder Stevens, is our District Leader so he needs to have an exchange with all Elders in our District every transfer which makes life super busy at times.  Good news this week is we placed another gal on book for Baptism. TANILLE is scheduled to be baptized o...

“OPEN YOUR MOUTH”

Image
Hey Everyone, The phrase "OPEN YOUR MOUTH" was shared many times as we attended Zone Conference with a special guest, Elder Kyungu, of the Seventy this week. If you haven't re-read his latest conference talk please read "To Be A Follower of Christ" from the October 2021 General Conference. Elder Kyungu told us as missionaries that we must "open our mouths" in most situations as we invite those to hear messages of Jesus Christ. Elder Kyungu has a great personality and is very funny. He loved saying "open your mouth" at the beginning of most of his sentences. I would invite all members to "open your mouth" and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with those you have contact with.  PAT is still unable to attend Church, so her baptism is on hold until she is more healthy and mobile and walking again. We had to drop SHIRECE and family. We didn't make any progress with BETTY this week. We did have SABRINE attend our Friday night volleybal...

We Can Find A Calm In The Storms Of Our Lives Through Jesus Christ

Hey Everyone, P-day today was pretty amazing and was spent with our entire Zone at the Kansas City Zoo. It was hot and humid and the zoo was ginormous with so much to see and do.  This week we were saddened to hear that PAT had to remain in rehab to continue to get help with her walking after being hit by a car last week. We have visited her and she misses reading from her large print Book of Mormon we gave her. She is still wanting to be baptized but we might have to push her date back a few weeks because of the accident. We spent Sunday fasting and praying for her. We are hoping we can start teaching her husband along with her.  We also felt inspired to call a family that was listed as a "grey dot" in our area book. We called and the mom, SHIRECE, answered and it was near her kids bedtime but she called them all to the phone to hear us share a scripture and a message with her family. It was quite an amazing experience and the spirit was present. SHIRECE and her husband have...
