A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Visit A Ward Member

Image
Hey Everyone! Happy Monday! It's great to send this email out and share with you about my week and happenings in the mission field.  Elder Barney and I worked and grind all week long! We logged a ton of miles on our car and we need more miles each week to continue our work! Our area is the LARGEST in the mission and it takes us half a transfer to visit every town and village and home on our list. Then we start over again and visit and teach in each area.  We found three new investigators through our efforts in FaceBook finding this week. The best part of all they all live in our area we serve so we look forward to meeting them in person and teaching them.  This week when we were teaching LEXIE I extended the invitation to be baptized and she said YES! She has three children, two who are of age to be baptized, and she wants them to be baptized at the same time so we don't have a baptismal date yet. We are super happy for her and look forward to continuing to teach her and ...

Be Anxiously Engaged

Hello Everyone, The weather warmed up a bit this week which brought out some new weeds and pollen which meant my allergies have flared up. It will be interesting to see how miserable my allergies are here in the mission field.  This week we had Zone Conference and it is always good to see and hear from President Ames and listen to the messages he has prepared for us. I took ample notes and have enjoyed reviewing the inspiring words he spoke.  We also had exchanges with the DL's and I stayed in Yellow Creek with Elder Loper and it was the best! We worked hard, shared several messages with different people, moved a lady's belongings in the pouring rain into a very tiny home, and ate fajitas at a restaurant that cooked everything and then placed it in a hollowed out pineapple.  We had a lot of appointments this week with some canceling and others showing some promise. As excited as we've been with MAGDELENA and CHEYENNE, they have never kept their commitments to read any of ...

An Amazing Sunday!

Image
Hey Everyone, What an amazing Sunday I had yesterday! Even with the Daylight Savings Time Change I went about the day looking for good. During Sacrament meeting I felt the Spirit touch my heart many times and I took that and built upon it throughout the day. An older member of our ward spoke during Sacrament Meeting on why it is so important to keep the Sabbath Day holy. He brought in the Old Testament, and even a little politics at the pulpit, but I was filled with the spirit and once home I went and prayed and then read my Patriarchal Blessing. Those things continued to lift me and carry me as we searched for people to teach.  We had a great lesson with JEANNIE last night. As we were planning, Elder Barney and I were ready to give her the next lesson when I felt a prompting to pause and take a moment to think about what the Spirit was telling me. The spirit told me that we needed to focus on JEANNIE's needs for this lesson. I shared my thoughts with Elder Barney and we agreed tha...

We’re GROUNDED!

Image
Hey Everyone, The fleet of cars in our Zone is currently GROUNDED right now! We had a great amazing snowstorm that grounded all of our vehicles. Not the best way to start off a very busy P-Day! We hope to have the go ahead in a few hours to use our cars to get our weekly shopping done.  It's been a very busy week and I have a new companion, Elder Barney. He's from Las Vegas, Nevada and he also ran cross country and track. I never competed against him but it's been nice to get to know him. He is one transfer behind me as far as the length of time he's been out. We are working well together and look forward to our time together. Transfer day was amazing and it's fun to get together with most of the mission and see friends and former companions and catch up with them. Elder Montoya, my trainer, is now here in the boonies and is in my District so that will be fun seeing him more often. Several Elder's completed their missions and went home and one of them is a POLY ...
